Does your to-do list mirror a battle strategy this week?
As someone who lives in the Los Angeles region—and works for an international nonprofit engaged in the immediate response—I’ve been somewhat in the heart of the wildfire disaster’s wake.
Thankfully, mercifully, my family is not in an evacuation zone, though I know many who are—many who’ve lost their homes, and many who still can’t return home.
It’s been a week.
I went on a police ride-along through areas ravaged by the Eaton Fire and shared some of that ride on the podcast I host as part of my day job.
Annnnd luckily for me, I had this week’s newsletter for The Content Brief mostly written before my schedule filled up with demands. * pats back * Hopefully, you’re enjoying these intentionally bite-sized entries with simple action steps to help you take control of your content.
As I said in the podcast, maybe you can do for someone what you wish you could do for everyone. A little bit really does go a long way.
Onward, friends. ❤️🩹
The past two weeks, you've mapped your topics and uncovered your patterns. Now comes the exciting (and maybe a little scary) part—choosing your focus.
I know. The "shoulds" are probably screaming right now:
"But shouldn't I talk about everything in my niche?"
"What if I miss opportunities?"
"Shouldn't I keep my options open?"
Here's your permission slip: You don't have to be everywhere or talk about everything.
In fact, the most impactful creators lead specific conversations, not general ones.
Grab your pattern insights from last week and complete this statement:
"While others in my niche talk about [common topics], I help [your specific people] with [your unique focus] because [why it matters to you]."
For example, here's mine:
While others talk about growth strategies and viral hacks, I help thoughtful creators lead meaningful conversations without burnout because it’s curious conversations that create genuine connection with the right community.
